Turbocharge your Boat with RPM Diesel

You should Turbocharge your boat if you are looking to achieve more power, efficiency, or a good balance between both! RPN diesel – a major player in the diesel repairs, maintenance, and installations industry- has been around since 1956. We know diesel, and we know how to enhance any diesel-based combustion engine to get the most out of it. No matter if your goals are to go faster, or save gas, we can help get you there. The best way to make this happen is to turbocharge your boat. Read on to learn more!

So what exactly do we mean when we suggest that you should ‘turbocharge your boat’? Well, we mean that you should have RPM diesel install, or upgrade your boat’s existing turbocharger. A turbocharger is what is called a ‘forced induction’ device. In non-turbocharged systems also called ‘naturally aspirated’ systems, volumes of air are moved into the engine solely by its air intake. Air is and fuel is compressed and this causes combustion. In a forced induction system, however, there is a device such as a turbocharger, which spools up to extremely fast RPMS by way of using the exhaust system’s excess gas pressure to spool up the turbo. When the turbo spools, it sucks in massive amounts of highly pressurized air and ‘forces’ this air into the engine’s intake system. This highly pressurized air causes pressure to boost’ which further increases the power an engine can produce for the amount of work it’s doing.

This means that your boat can achieve more power with a smaller engine for those who want better fuel efficincy- bringing a smaller-sized engine in line with larger engines for less fuel cost. It also means boats with larger engines will make substantially more power- without too much additional fuel cost. At RPM Diesel we carry, install, and maintain turbocharger systems from and for a variety of major worldwide known brands. This includes Borg Warner, Garrett, Cummins, Hoslet, IHI, KKK, Mitsubishi, and Schwitzer. If your engine system is already equipped with a turbo, we can offer upgrades from the stock Turbo. We can also give you a quote on what it would cost for parts and labor to install and tune your engine to work with a turbo. Because of the additional power involved, and components it’s good to know how and what to maintain and how often.
